It is 18 years after the Traitor’s War, and the Broadlands are at peace. Beltran III, trying
to restore some semblance of honor to the name Beltran, has sent ships to explore the
Shattered Sea. When one of the exploration ships stumbles upon an island populated
with slaves, a chain of events is set off that culminates in a merciless invasion from the
eastern sea.
The invaders come to the Broadlands with a savage, unrelenting army of thousands that
knows nothing of mercy or surrender. Worse, they come with an unforeseen and twisted
form of Lifemagic that gives their mages almost unlimited power and the ability to drop
fire from the sky.
From the ashes of the Broadlands capital city and pursued across the expanse of the
Eltashi kingdom, King Beltran is thrown into a war that forces him to assume a nobility in
kingship in the midst of despair. At the same time, his adopted siblings, the mage Garin
Fallheim and the warrior Kyera Argarian, are thrust into a fight for the very survival of
the Broadlands, a fight that requires one to seek hope in myth and the other to face the
full horror of war.
Kyera Argarian, daughter to the heroic Archmage Roland, wishes for adventure. She has trained her whole life to be a warrior, and yet it seems she is bound for marriage and mundanity for the rest of her life.
Garin Fallheim, son of the famous and heroic Rayk Fallheim, is a student of magic at the Academy. Tired of the standard spells, he instead finds new and exciting spells to practice. Spells that make him invisible and let him speak into people’s minds.
When the capital is destroyed, the three ‘siblings’ are set on a path of adventure to repel the invaders and defend the Broadlands from subjugation.
